Inspired by the mantra "beauty meets waste," Julia Joosten transformed acrylic nail waste into a collection of objects that blur the lines between art, jewellery and functional design. The table is made from both filtered and unfiltered waste, with the tabletop featuring larger pieces captured in the filter, visually reinforcing the story of the salon. This replica serves as both a functional piece and an artistic statement. Additionally, the jewellery, including the ring and pendant, features hand-cut gemstones crafted from the nail waste. 'Gemnails' showcases the possibilities for artistic creation using unexpected materials and emphasises a sustainable approach to traditional jewellery, furniture and decor.
